Young Muslims in Watford celebrated Eid by donating over 70 kilograms of food to the Watford Food Bank.
The holiday marks the end Ramadan where Muslims celebrate by giving to charity and those in need, and celebrate with family and friends to share joy and blessings.
Since AMYA was created in 1985, the Youth Charity Challenge has raised over a £1 million for UK-based charities including Save the Children, Cancer Research UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Help for Heroes.
Jawad Qamar, Leader for the Watford Ahmadiyya Youth Association, said: “Eidul Fitr is the Muslim celebration held after the month of Ramadan.
“During Ramadan, Muslims are obliged to fast during daylight hours. It provides time for reflection and inspires gratitude for all that we have – and sympathy for those who have less.
“As such, even though we celebrate the end of the month of fasting, it is important that we give back to the community that has provided us so much.”
Fifteen Members of the local Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), aged between 9 and 35, also spent time with retirees at the River Court Residential and Nursing Home and gave them gifts.
