Watford Women Thrash Charlton PGA at First Home Game of the Season

Orbital Fasteners Stadium, Kings Langley

Watford Women FC mark their return to their Kings Langley grounds with an amazing 7-0 victory

Watford Women FC played their first home game of the season on Wednesday with Charlton PGA at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium in Kings Langley, winning by 7-0; the teams were playing in the group stage of the FA Women’s National Team cup in group J. Watford hadn’t played at Kings Langley since 2022, the victory marking the team’s return to the grounds.

After a late summer evening kick off, Watford started the game strong and had many attempts at goal from the start. The first goal of the season was scored in the first half by Isabella Fisher, putting the team ahead ten minutes before half time.

Three substitutions were made at half time as Ayisi, Kendell, and Garrard were brought on in place of Fisher, Paul, and Peacock, for an action packed second half. The second goal was scored by Freda Ayisi as a penalty, after Annie Rossiter was brought down. Rossiter herself scored the next two goals in quick succession, bringing the team to a 4-0 score.

Watford continued their attacks throughout the second half, keeping the ball mostly on their half of the pitch. Leading to the fifth goal being scored by Soraya Walsh, who has been loaned in from West Ham for the season and makes her debut on the team after being subbed in at the hour mark to replace Hind.

The next goal came at the seventy third minute, as a result of a long shot hitting high into the net, scored by Flo Fyfe. Fyfe also scored the seventh and final goal of the night at a close range during the last ten minutes of the game, to the delight of the crowd.

Watford Women FC are due to play their next game on Sunday, against Plymouth Argyle at 3:00 in the afternoon, for tickets, please see here.
