On the 4th of November, Cassio Productions’ Crazy For You opened at Watford Palace Theatre with a spectacular performance full of music, comedy and energy.
Directed by Chris Wheeler and with Simone Chiappi as musical director, the production shone with high quality musical production and polished comedic timing.
The story follows Bobby Child, a New York banker, finds himself falling in love with theatre enthusiast, Polly Baker. Through a series of comedic adventures, including mistaken identity and romantic mix ups, Bobby attempts to win Polly’s heart while keeping the audience laughing throughout.
Joseph Lucas delivered a thrilling performance as Bobby Child, combining a wonderful singing voice alongside his show-stopping dancing. His tap routines were a highlight of the show which were executed with great rhythm and timing. While Sarah Clampton shined as Polly, bringing warmth and natural stage presence that complimented Lucas greatly. This allowed for their on-stage chemistry to be another highlight of the evening.
The choreography was lively and well- executed, and the staging was simple but wonderfully supported the story and characters. Some scenes consisted of minimal backgrounds that highlighted the theatre within the story adding depth without distraction. While the music and vocals worked seamlessly together showcasing the skill of the cast and creative team.
Overall, this production captures the joys of young love and the thrill for theatre, in a toe-tapping spectacle that should not be missed.
