The Top Five Films and TV Shows to Watch this Week (18th - 22nd August 2025)

Real life moments and events are influencing all of the films and TV shows that I have selected for you all this week. Get ready to binge the following as soon as they land on our screens…

Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, 9pm, BBC One, Monday 18th August: After the tragic loss of the greatest rock legend, this new documentary seems even more vital to watch. Capturing the iconic families return to the UK, the show sees them working together to help create Ozzy’s final concert.

The Twisted Tale Of Amanda Knox, 8am, Disney Plus UK, Wednesday 20th August: One of the most well-known criminal cases of all time is getting a dramatic portrayal that is certain to get everyone talking. Whether you know about the case or not, everyone who watches this will take away something new.

The Map That Leads To You, 8am, Prime Video UK, Wednesday 20th August: If you are looking for a mid-week pick me up then this film is essential viewing. When two people meet upon travelling, they soon fall for each other. However, the distances between them create all sorts of drama.

Hostage, 8am, Netflix UK, Thursday 21st August: What would you do if you were the prime minister and had to choose between looking after the people or getting your husband back by putting them at risk? Thankfully, many of us won’t have to worry about this, but in this new series starting Suranne Jones, her character is faced with this very dilemma. Binge watching material at its best.

Reading Festival, 10:40pm, BBC One, Friday 22nd August: Capture the likes of Chappell Roan and more as they take to the big stage to headline. With footage available all weekend, you can enjoy the best indie music without worrying about the mud or toilets!

Let us know what you have been watching and what you are most looking forward to catching over the course of the week, via our social media pages or in the comments below, as we would love to know!
