Watford Borough Council and environmental partner Veolia UK are gearing up for the return of the free compost giveaway on Saturday 10 May 2025, which has been donated by Envar West London Composting.
This event will run from 10am to 11:30am at the Woodside Playing Fields Car Park (upper car park), Horseshoe Lane, Watford, WD25 7HH. It will be a great opportunity for the local community to embrace sustainable living, improve their gardens, and do their part for the planet. This is a popular event, and compost supply may run out so arrive as early as possible
The purpose of the compost giveaway is to recognise locals who consistently correctly dispose of their garden waste. This garbage has been turned into rich, environmentally beneficial compost that is ready for community distribution.
Darren Harding, Senior Contract Manager at Veolia, said: “The compost…has been made from the garden waste collected from households across Watford by Veolia crews, showcasing a truly circular economy. Supporting events like this is just one of the many ways we’re proud to be part of a cleaner, greener Watford.”
Residents will be asked to:
- Bring proof of address (e.g. utility bill or council tax statement)
- Bring your own bags and a shovel – residents are responsible for filling and transporting their compost.
- Only bring a maximum of two bags per household.
