Watford’s Big Beach Returns for Another Sun-sational Summer

The beloved ‘Big Beach’ is set to return to the town centre this Friday, bringing sand, sun and deckchairs to Watford once again.

Open daily from Friday 14 August to Sunday 30 August, the free attraction can be found outside Watford Central Library.

Families are encouraged to enjoy the sun in the sandpit, with toys like buckets and spades available from the on-site beach hut.

While visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnics, various cafes and restaurants are just a short walk away on Watford High Street.

Peter Taylor, Elected Mayor of Watford, said: “Big Beach has become a real summer favourite and we’re delighted to be bringing it back for another year.

“It gives families the chance to enjoy a little taste of the seaside without leaving Watford, and best of all, it’s completely free.”

Since opening in 2015, Big Beach has become a popular summer-holiday attraction for more than a decade, hosting hundreds each year.

It is one of many free and affordable events put on by Watford Borough Council as part of their Big Events programme.
