The maternity staff at West Herts Teaching Hospital NHS Trust gathered on Thursday 22 August to watch themselves in the premiere of the new series of Emma Willis: Delivering Babies.

The premier was hosted at Watford football club and a group of around 50 midwives, nurses and support workers were joined by the show's presenter Emma Willis herself, to preview the first episode ahead of its release on Thursday 5 September.

The new series, which is produced by Firecracker Films, follows Willis as she pursues her certification as a Maternity Support Worker (MSW), which involves giving direct attention to newborns throughout their crucial first few weeks of life.

Watchers will witness Willis working closely with a committed group of midwives over the course of six episodes, where she will take on greater responsibility for tending to people and their families during pregnancy and labour. The people who work on the maternity wards have already greatly benefited from the TV show's filming.

Kelly McGovern, Chief Nurse said: "When you do it every day, it’s easy to lose sight of the massive difference our midwives, doctors and nurses make to so many parents. Watching the first episode was emotional but also hugely inspiring and joyful.”

As Willis expands on her current knowledge and picks up new skills, her path to becoming a certified MSW will be closely tracked. Her biggest test will be when she manages an unsupervised prenatal clinic on her own for expectant moms. Hopefully It will be a challenging yet gratifying experience.

The fourth series of Emma Willis: Delivering Babies will premiere at 9pm on Thursday 5 September. Viewers can stream all episodes for free on U, or tune in live on U&W.
