Get ready to reach for the stars, as love is well and truly in the air this week. Whether it be in the superhero world or a familiar island in Spain, the world is ready for summer to begin and our TV screens know about it. With many making up my top five picks this week...
The Newsreader, 9pm/Now, BBC Two/iPlayer, Sunday 24th July: Fresh from Australia, this new drama is starting tonight with two episodes. As the world becomes gripped with all the fresh news items being announced, the team behind the shows are faced with dark secrets that they have to decide should be aired or not. A gripping new Sunday feature.
Santa Evita, 8am, Disney Plus UK, Tuesday 26th July: Based on the best-selling book, this new series explores what happens when an embalmed body remains unburied for all to stare at. A body many people will know, as it is of the political figure Evita. A mystery and dark story that will draw you in in lots of ways.
Not Okay, 8am, Disney Plus UK, Friday 29th July: When a writer, who has no friends or prospects, finds herself a social media star for all the wrong reasons, she must learn to come to terms with her new status. This fresh feature from the stars at Disney Plus will draw you in from the get go, so definitely don’t miss it.
Paper Girls, 8am, Prime Video UK, Friday 29th July: It is still a few months away, but Halloween is coming early with this new series from Prime Video. Following a group of teenage girls, the show captures what happens to them when they are faced with the prospect of time-travellers. Ones who could end causing deadly consequences for all.
Purple Hearts, 8am, Netflix UK, Friday 29th July: We are all feeling the love at the moment, with Love Island rocking our TV screens for the last time this weekend. Netflix has stepped in though to save the day early, with a new romantic feature that will have you looking for your summer fling before you know it.
