A well known mouth artist, author and motivational speaker will be exhibiting at The Grove on 14 and 15 September.
When Henry Fraser was 17, he had an accident on holiday which left him paralysed from the shoulders down. Whilst bed bound recovering from a bed sore in 2015, he discovered that he could use a mouth stick to draw on his iPad. Once his health had improved, he found that he could paint on a canvas by attaching pencils and paint brushes to a mouth stick.
In the last few years, his story was adapted into a musical, The Little Big Things, which ran on the West End for six months, ending in February this year.
The exhibition, called Hand to Mouth IV, will be Henry’s fourth, and will feature new paintings and videos showing how he painted them. Visitors will also have the chance to win an overnight stay at The Grove, a signed print, a coffee table art book and a copy of Henry’s book, The Little Big Things.
Henry Fraser said: “It took me a good few years to get really confident with painting. I was used to having the mouth stick in my mouth, but painting was a whole different skill. [At the exhibition] there’s going to be tonnes of videos showing how I paint, how I started and where it is now, with all the work I’ve done over the last two years. I’ll be there both days so come down and say hi.”
The exhibition will be in the Ivory Suite at The Grove from 10:30am to 6:30pm on Saturday 14 September, and from 10:30am to 5:30pm on Sunday 15 September, and will be free to enter.
