Notice of overnight road closures on the A405 and A414

Essential roadworks will begin on the A405 North Orbital Road on Thursday 19th May and on the A414 on Friday 1st July.

Road marking will take place overnight using full road closures and work will take place over six nights in the following locations, between 9pm and 5am:

Thursday 19th May and Friday 20th May
A405 North Orbital Road dual carriageway – from the Tippendell roundabout to the Noke roundabout (both directions)

Friday 1st July and Monday 4th July
A414 North Orbital Road dual carriageway – from the London Colney roundabout to the Park Street roundabout (both directions)

Monday 4th July and Tuesday 5th July
A414 North Orbital Road dual carriageway – from the London Colney longabout to the London Colney roundabout (both directions)

Signed alternative routes will be in place though vehicle access to properties during the working hours will be maintained and controlled by gatemen at each end of the closure but there may be delays.

Terry Douris, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “These works form part of Hertfordshire County Council's continuing commitment to maintain and improve our roads for the benefit of all road users in Hertfordshire.

"I realise that the road closures on these busy roads are likely to cause disruption and inconvenience to motorists and would ask everyone for their co-operation and patience while the work is in progress.”

The work is weather dependent and from time to time unforeseen circumstances can arise and work may continue outside the advertised hours.

Any changes to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be announced on the information boards on site and will be available at www.hertsdirect.org/roadworks.

Bus service routes may be affected by these works – for details of any changes you can visit www.intalink.org.uk – and look in the ‘service disruptions’ section.

General road faults like potholes or faulty streetlights can be reported at www.hertsdirect.org/highwayfaults.
