Abbots Langley primary school has this week become the new home of John Lewis Watford’s Monty the penguin.
At the beginning of December the department store launched a competition, encouraging people to write in with a reason why their local community could benefit from having the fibreglass Monty model.
The schools head teacher, Roger Billing, told Vibe “when I saw the tweet about Monty needing a new home, I knew that we would be the right place for him. Our school is a lovely place and I had the ideal location for him in mind, our library bus. So, I emailed Pearl, at John Lewis, offering Monty a home and explained that our children would be over the moon to have him at Abbots.”
A few days before Christmas Abbots Langley Primary School heard they were the lucky winners. “He has settled in nicely and is looking forward to the children coming back to school.”
