Harmony Fostering encourages local community to visit their fostering information day.

For those unfamiliar with fostering, Harmony Fostering is an independent fostering agency that carefully matches children with carers who can meet their individual needs. They aim to provide a stable and safe environment for children in the community who are in need of a home. Recently they had an event at Watford's Harlequin shopping centre.

However if you missed this they are having their Fostering Information Day on 17 February. The event, taking place at their offices at the M25 Business Centre, Brooker Road, EN9 1JH; will give potential foster parents a great opportunity to ask questions and familiarise themselves with the fostering process.

From the very first enquiry, prospective carers are guided through every step of the process, with dedicated social workers offering advice, assessments and ongoing support. Before becoming approved, all foster carers receive thorough training and preparation and a home visit to ensure they have the proper environment for a child.

Financial support is also an important part of fostering. Harmony Fostering also provides a regular allowance designed to cover the costs of caring for a child, such as food, clothing, activities and transport. This helps carers focus fully on providing a nurturing and stable home, without worrying about financial pressure.

Support and community does not stop once a child is placed. Harmony Fostering has had beach days and many other activities involving all their foster children, ensuring children feel a part of a wider supportive family.

One of the biggest misconceptions about fostering is that you need to fit a particular “type” of household.

Vernal Cooper, Deputy Manager of Harmony Fostering said : “we encourage people from all walks of life to apply…Some of our carers had challenging starts in life, but today they are stable, trusted carers making a real difference for children.”

In reality, foster carers can be single, couples, families, working, unemployed or even retired. What matters most is having space in your heart and your home, and a commitment to supporting a child through a difficult time.

Currently, there is an urgent need for carers for children of all ages in the local area, Harmony Fostering works closely with carers to ensure placements are well matched and fully supported.

For anyone interested in taking the first step, Harmony encourages people to simply start with a conversation. Please visit harmonyfostering.co.uk or call 07768 860946.
