Cooking demonstrations by celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager drew in crowds of onlookers at the New Watford Market’s official launch.
The Halloween-themed event included arts and crafts for children and a Grand Prize Wheel, accompanied by music from Vibe 107.6 FM. A series of short demos kicked off with Rosemary showing shoppers how to sizzle sausages to perfection, one of which involved our very own Breakfast Show presenter, Lee, showing off his culinary skills! G. Gibson Butchers provided quality British meat for the cooking demonstrations, and all other ingredients were fresh from the market. Watford’s Mayor Dorothy Thornhill also got involved in the show.
The new market has embraced new businesses such as The Littlest Retro Shop, and welcomed back familiar faces such as Lynne Lawrence who has been running Lynne’s Sewing Box since 1974. All the traders were as welcoming and helpful as always.

From haberdashery to hair accessories and cod to candles, an eclectic range of produce is now available at the market. Spread across two levels, the top floor features an outdoor food court offering oriental cuisine and traditional food and a lift insures access for all. The New Watford Market is bound to become a firm favourite for shoppers looking for unusual bargains and is open from 8.00am from Tuesday to Saturday.
