An annual event of arts, music, drama, entertainment, sports, tours and talks, the volunteer-run festival will no longer take place this July.
Bushey’s once-a-year festival to celebrate the town and to enhance community life has been postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
An annual event of arts, music, drama, entertainment, sports, tours and talks, the volunteer-run festival will no longer take place this July.
The decision made by Hertsmere Council means that there will be no festival programme until the summer of 2021.
Organisers said that: “We can’t deny that it really does feel sad, not least because of all the hard work and effort that’s gone into its planning but because we were hoping that a festival would be the very thing that people would need having endured this life-changing event.”
Once allowed to congregate again, Bushey Festival have proposed a ‘Bushey is Open’ event. Community groups will be invited to open their doors and showcase what they do. The idea is to express solidarity with each other and to celebrate the community’s resilience and need to come together.
