Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher has avoided bankruptcy after settling an unpaid tax bill with HMRC.
A petition was initially issued in August but Kevin Hassan, representing HMRC, told a hearing in London on Tuesday that the debt had been paid.
No figure was provided at the Insolvency and Companies Court, and judge Nicholas Briggs dismissed the petition against the 48-year-old football star.
Carragher, from Merseyside, made over 700 appearances for Liverpool and was part of the squad that won the 2005 Champions League against AC Milan in Istanbul.
