Boy, 16, arrested on suspicion of murder after 15-year-old stabbed to death near London park

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another teenager was stabbed to death near a park.

Police were called to the Mabley Green area of Homerton, Hackney, east London, just after 7pm on Monday after a fight broke out.

When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy had suffered stab wounds in Poplar Close.

Paramedics treated him at the scene, but he was pronounced dead.

On Friday, the Metropolitan Police named the victim as Brayan Saldarriaga, from Haringey, north London, and said a 16-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He is still in custody while being questioned by detectives, the Met Police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, leading the investigation, said the force's thoughts "remain with Brayan's loved ones following this tragic incident".

In an appeal for witnesses, she added: "We know there were a significant number of people who recorded the large gathering and the incident on their mobile phone.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or who has footage of the incident to come forward to police - your information could be vital."
