Watford FC Women to travel to Wales to play Gwalia United this Easter Sunday
Watford FC Women will travel to Cardiff for their upcoming match against Gwalia on Sunday 5th April, at 1:00pm. The team will be able to secure the championship if they win this match, currently 4 points clear at the top of the FA Women’s National League Southern Division, putting them in prime position to be promoted to WSL 2.
This game against Gwalia will mark 100 appearances for Flo Fyfe who joined the club in 2021, who says “I’ve been here for a long time and it’s a club I can really call home”. Fyfe has been a key player in the push for this championship, making a strong recovery after an injury in November while playing against Oxford United. She returned and faced Oxford again in February, scoring half of the goals scored in Watford’s 4-3 victory, saying “there have been a lot of lows and a lot of highs! I feel like this is the place I’m meant to be”.
Coral Haines credits the team spirit at Watford Women FC for the team’s success- “it would be almost impossible if it wasn’t for the friendships we have and how much we’ve got each other’s backs. It’s really amazing to be part of”. Haines says the preparation for the game against Gwalia is going “as [it] would for any other game. Since December, we have been treating every game we have played as a cup final”.
This game comes after Watford FC Women’s victory against Exeter City on Sunday 29th March, played at Vicarage Road. More than 1,300 fans attended the game which ended in a 5-0 score, marking Watford’s eighth victory in a row since the start of the year.
Watford will play Gwalia at the USW Sports Park in Pontypridd on Easter Sunday and tickets are available here.
