MONOPOLY set be localised featuring iconic Watford landmarks

The world of Monopoly is coming to Watford, complete with different locations around the town replacing iconic squares such as Park Lane and Waterworks.

Watford is now due to be given it's own version of the iconic family board game, Monopoly, after a decision from Games company Winning Moves UK showed the town to be the 'most deserving' of a personalised board, and will be producing 

The announcement was made at the Watford Palace Theatre on Tuesday 3rd February, with a call for local people to make suggestions on design, such as wording for 'Community Chest' and 'Chance' as well as any special requests for famous landmarks to be included on the board. Nominations will be accepted by the company until 23:59pm on the 28th February 2026. 

Many iconic town spots have already been revealed to be included on the board, including Vicarage Road Stadium, Warner Bros. Studios, the Palace Theatre, Harlequin Watford, Cassiobury Park and the Town Hall. More than 30 landmarks will make up the different location that game players can buy and trade. 

Yasmin East, Custom Games Executive of Winning Moves UK, states: "Watford ticks all the boxes for us. We are sure we are going to be spoilt with choices when putting this game together." 

Elected Mayor Peter Taylor also added: "MONOPOLY is recognised around the world, so it is exciting to be working with WInning Moves UK on an official Watford edition of this game. We have a brilliant range of landmarks and organisations, all of which help define our town's character." 

"This edition will provide a unique oppotunity to showcase what makes Watford so special. I look forward to residents and organisations helping shape the board through their suggestions- as well as playing it with my family when it reaches homes." 

The game will be available to purchase in local stores across the town just in time for Christmas.
