The Mad Hatter will set three riddles for visitors at the launch of Watford Borough Council’s Big Wordfest – and if you get them right, you could win a prize!
The free Big Wordfest launch party will be at Watford Museum from 12noon to 3.00pm on Saturday (3rd March). Alice in Wonderland, the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Cheshire Cat and Caterpillar will be joining the Mad Hatter at the event. There will be face-painting, craft activities and tasty treats from the Museum’s Little Gallery Tea Room – which runs from 10.30am to 4.00pm on the first Saturday of every month.
The Mad Hatter’s prizes will be two hardback and two softback illustrated Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland books and 10 Alice-themed fridge magnets.

Prizes up for grabs in the Mad Hatter’s riddle contest
Cllr Karen Collett, cabinet member for Community, said: “Our fabulous and free Big Wordfest launch party is a great way to introduce the joy of reading into the lives of our young people. We will bring Alice in Wonderland to life as the characters play out their roles for all of our visitors.”
Big Wordfest – Watford’s celebration of all things word-related – is now entering its third year, and the 2018 theme of the festival is adventure and travel. Word-related events will run throughout March and April, with free and low-cost activities for anyone and everyone. They are all listed at watfordbigevents.co.uk, so have a browse.
