A world heavyweight boxing champion and a Watford legend, Anthony Joshua has praised NHS staff at Watford General Hospital, the town’s biggest superstar thanking all on the front line for their hard work during the coronavirus epidemic.
In a supportive video message, Joshua shared his gratitude towards those who are treating Covid-19 patients.
A somewhat regular at Watford General throughout his teenage years, AJ explained how he holds the hospital “very, very close to his heart.”
"I was actually born in Watford General Hospital,” he said.
“You guys have taken good care of me since a child and I have been in that hospital many times as a teenager. You guys have stitched me up and patched me up and I'm here still fighting today. You are appreciated from day one to mid-teens to young adult life."
Joshua says that he hopes he can make a "big difference" and wants staff to know that they are "appreciated".
The video ends as Joshua says:
"I just want to say thank you again. You are loved, you are appreciated, you're valued and you guys will go down in history. Thank you so much. Let's continue to fight Covid-19. God bless you."
