The Top Five Films and TV Shows to Watch this Week (11th - 17th May 2024)

Coming at you a day earlier than normal, the world of TV is lighting up early this week, with two big viewings happening tonight. Sit back and relax with one of my top five must-sees. You won’t be disappointed…

Doctor Who, 6:20pm/7:05pm, BBC One, Saturday 11th May: In his first full series, Ncuti Gatwa becomes the 15th Doctor to take on the world of time and space. In a double whammy of two episodes, the Tardis is back and ready for business to begin. 

Eurovision Song Contest, 8pm, BBC One, Saturday 11th May: The greatest singing competition in the world is back! Get ready for the laughs, songs and cheese festival that the Eurovision Song Contest is. Honestly, it is a pure delight! 

BAFTA Television Awards, 7pm, BBC One, Sunday 12th May: After all the drama of Eurovision, the stars of some of the biggest shows on TV will be joining Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan to bring the world of awards season back down to earth. See which one of your favourite shows and stars scoop a big win live on the night. 

The Gathering, 9pm, Channel Four, Tuesday 14th May: In this new thriller from Channel Four, one teenage girls life is changed for ever when she goes to a party with horrible consequences. Truly gripping, this dark viewing will hook you in within the first five minutes of viewing it.

Bridgeton, 8am, Netflix UK, Thursday 16th May: Lies, scandals and probably some of the best music and acting on screen returns today, with the third series of Bridgeton landing. Full of sexual tension and period drama, it’s the perfect binge watch.
