The Pump House is delighted to present a unique 90s/2000s twist on a Shakespearean classic, reinvented for a 21st century audience. Performed by an ensemble of talented actors, who will reignite this text onto the main stage.
Covered by multiple examination boards, including, AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas and Cambridge Assessment International Education boards, Romeo and Juliet has been part of GCSE curriculum for multiple years. So why not as a post Easter holiday pick me up, bring your teens to this exciting adaptation. Instead of staring at their set text all day, it will be brought to life on stage, helping them engage in an imaginative way. Nonetheless, even if you are not taking your GCSE’s this year, the play is for everyone, promising to be fast paced fun, 100 minutes of love, loss, and laughter.
Adapted and directed by Herts director, producer, and playwright Jo Emry, who while busy working on preparation with the actors, has commented: “Everyone is having lots of fun in rehearsals, the cast are talented and eager, and we’re all thoroughly enjoying the creative process to bring this play to life. It’s been a lovely collaborative effort, everyone sharing ideas and being supportive. We’ve enjoyed choreographing the fight scenes and we’ve worked closely together on the interpretation of Shakespeare’s language and characterisation.”
