This July, Home Instead is inviting the Watford community to take a closer look at the early signs of dementia. Vibe 107.6’s own Rachel Wilkes spoke with Stephanie Turner from Home Instead to speak about their Spot The Signs campaign.

As part of their new campaign, the local care provider is running a series of free workshops and talks aimed at helping people understand what dementia can look like in its early stages and how to respond with confidence and compassion.

The campaign aims to provide free workshops open to everyone. They have two upcoming events. One on Wednesday 23 July at Carpenters Park Care Home from 2 to 4pm, and another on Thursday 7 August at Riverside Lodge, Rickmansworth from 2 to 4pm. The workshops include input from professionals like GPs, nutritionists, and cognitive therapists.

The campaign is about education, but it’s also about empowerment. Whether you're supporting a parent, a neighbour, or simply want to be more dementia-aware in your community, the upcoming sessions are designed to offer practical advice, local insight, and a chance to ask questions.

Home Instead will also be relaunching the Rose & Rest retreat on Monday 15 July. This will be  a community space designed specifically for people living with dementia and their carers.

Rose & Rest will be held every third Tuesday of the month between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM  starting from 15th of July, in the Asda community room in North Watford and will be completely free to attend. The aim is to provide a calm, friendly setting where attendees can take part in gentle activities and connect with others going through similar experiences.

Home Instead member, Stephanie Turner said: “[Rose and Rest] is a special welcoming safe space, shall we say, for dementia sufferers and their carers.”

Accessibility and connection are at the heart of both the Spot The Signs campaign and the Rose & Rest retreat. From helping families recognise when to seek help, to providing spaces where everyone feels seen and supported, Home Instead is taking a thoughtful, local approach to dementia care.
