Join intu Watford for their Christmas Lights Switch On Event Tonight!

Make sure you get down to intu Watford for their annual festive lights switch on event. The evening will also bring the official launch of Santa's grotto!

Free family fun starts at 4.00pm throughout intu Watford including facepainting, balloon modelling, arts & crafts, storytelling, juggling elves, magical jack frost, stilt walkers and so much more!

The main event kicks off at 6.00pm on the bridge area by John Lewis with Watford Rock Chorus.  There will also be appearances from Watford Palace Panto characters, Santa & his elves and Watford FC players., plus performances by Pump House Theatre, The Academy and Watford’s Pauline Quirk Academy.

The Watford FC players will be in the gallery area (above BHS) to sign autographs from 5.15pm until 6.00pm. You won't need a ticket for this, but please note this meet and greet is on a first come first served basis. (The names of the players who will be there will be released nearer the time).

The winner of intu Watford's Christmas Star search, 10 year old Brooke Cornwell, will be pressing the big red button at 7.00pm to officially light up the centre and kick off an amazing firework display (don’t worry about going outside for this part….you can get the best view by just looking up through our huge glass ceiling).

Brooke Cornwell was voted as Watford’s local hero by the public with a huge 55% of the votes! She is one of just 125 people in the UK born with Diamond Blackfan Anaemia, meaning her bone marrow cannot produce enough red blood cells to carry oxygen around her body. She's fought for her life on numerous occasions, shocking doctors with her will to survive, even after being 'an hour from death' and spending 46 days on life support. We hope to make this evening a very special and magical one for Brooke.

Not only will Thursday 12th November bring the great Switch On and fireworks but Santa and his elves will be popping by to say hello before they officially open Santa’s grotto after the show. So make sure you come down to kick off Christmas in style and don’t miss your chance to meet Santa in his magical grotto at intu Watford this Christmas. Not only will you take home a gift-wrapped present from the man himself, but you can even have a go at building a snowman in the interactive grotto whilst you wait to see him.  (The grotto is just around the corner from Clas Ohlson).
