Snow First for Watford in July

In the first time in its history, Cassiobury Park in Watford will see snow in July thanks to Peace Hospice Care's new NightLight Walk event to raise funds for people with life-limiting illness.

Taking place on Saturday 8th July, and replacing the charity’s successful Starlight Walk, the NightLight Walk has been designed as a fun lantern walk for all the family with magical fun and activities along the 5k route.

A 'snow zone' is just one the surprises being planned for the event so that everyone taking part can enjoy some Summer snow in the Park. Other ‘zones’ planned are yet to be revealed. The event will also use thousands of lights to turn the park’s woodlands and nature reserve into a fairy tale wonderland.

Peter Watson, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at Peace Hospice Care said: “We’ve created a fun family event packed with surprises. So, whether you're walking in memory of a loved one, to have fun with friends and family, or just to be part of the magic, there’s something for everyone and it’s a fun way to raise vital funds for us too.”

At the end of the route, as night falls, those taking part will be invited to place their lanterns into a display to create a stunning light sculpture that will shine as a symbol of support for local families in need of the Hospice’s care and to remember loved ones.

To join the walk please visit: www.peacehospicecare.org.uk/events, call 01923 335373 or email events@peacehospicecare.org.uk.

Every year, Peace Hospice Care needs £5 million to run and deliver their services. Only £1 million of that comes from the NHS. The rest is raised through monetary donations, their high street shops, corporate partnerships and fundraising events.
