Peace Hospice Care launches Pounds for Pounds 2018!

Starting on Thursday 4th January, the 12 week challenge helps participants lose weight whilst they raise money for the local charity.

Peace Hospice Care's annual weight loss fundraiser, Pounds for Pounds, returns in the New Year! The programme encourages participants to lose weight through nutritional advice, exercise sessions and free gym membership, motivational talks and group support. At the end of the 12 week programme participants can show off their new looks to their family and friends at the Grand Finale.

In 2016, Jane Jones, from Croxley Green, took part in Pounds for Pounds to help her make positive health changes. At the time Jane was overweight and had a sedentary lifestyle. Since Jane took part in the programme in 2016, she has continued to maintain her healthy lifestyle and, as a result, she has lost over seven stone (98 pounds) by following the tips she learnt during Pounds for Pounds.

6 months after completing Pounds for Pounds

Jane said: “The hardest part for me was admitting to myself and others that I actually was overweight in the first place – I was embarrassed. I have a family history of cancer and heart disease so I was determined to make positive health changes for the sake of my 2 children, ensuring that I'd be around for them for as long as possible. Pounds for Pounds helped me change by life through nutrition, exercise, positive thinking and make lifelong friends too.”

Places for Pounds for Pounds 2018 are limited and will be available on a first-come first-served basis. To join the programme at the early bird rate of £10, participants must pay the non-refundable registration fee before the 24th December 2017, raise a minimum of £375 in sponsorship, and sell 10 tickets to the Grand Finale.
